About Ceramic
What is Hasami-Yaki?
Hasami-Yaki(波佐見焼) is high-quality porcelain that has been crafted in Hasami Town, Nagasaki, for over 400 years. Celebrated for its clean lines, practicality, and minimalist charm, Hasami ware has gained popularity throughout Japan and beyond.

A 400-Year History of Craftsmanship
Hasami ware traces its roots back to the early 1600s, during the Edo period. After the Imjin War, skilled potters from the Korean Peninsula introduced porcelain-making techniques. With support from the local Omura clan, Hasami became a key production center alongside nearby Arita.
Many everyday items like Kurawanka bowls and Komplar bottles were mass-produced here, although they were often labeled as “Arita ware” due to shared distribution routes.

Why Hasami-Yaki is Special
-
Durable and Practical: Fired at high temperatures, Hasami porcelain is strong, lightweight, and often microwave and dishwasher safe—perfect for modern daily life.
-
Simple Yet Stylish: From traditional indigo designs to Scandinavian-inspired patterns, Hasami ware suits a wide range of interiors and tablescapes.
-
Affordable Beauty: Compared to Arita or Imari porcelain, Hasami ware is more accessible, making it ideal for anyone who wants to add timeless Japanese design to their daily life.
Hasami ware is where tradition meets innovation—making it beloved by all generations, in Japan and abroad.
